Apple supplier BOE will be the OLED panel supplier for the fourth-generation iPhone SE, according to an IT Home report.

BOE, Samsung Display, and Tianma have been in discussions to provide the OLED panels, but IT Home’s report claims Samsung has pulled out of negotiations over pricing issues, even though the manufacturer has an existing inventory of iPhone 14 OLED inventory to pull from.

While Samsung’s final offer for each panel was reportedly $30, Apple was said to have been holding out for a $25 price point for the panels. While Samsung’s pulling out of the negotiations leaves BOE and Tianma as potential suppliers, Tianma has not been able to meet Apple’s stringent quality requirements, leaving BOE in a position to supply the majority of the display orders, if not all of them.

No matter who provides the OLED display panels for the iPhone SE 4 pricing should come well under the prices suppliers have charged for displays for the iPhone 15, as the SE panels will use legacy parts identical to the OLED displays for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14.

The fourth-generation iPhone SE is said to boast a design similar to the iPhone 14, sporting a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID to replace the current model’s Touch ID authentication, a USB-C port, an Action button, and does away with the Home Button.
